Every forum I touch turns to rigor mortis!

In my opinion the biggest problem are the threads. At the moment we have a lot of threads like: 'what's your favorite song' and 'what's your favorite anime'. Posting once or twice in those threads is enough. We don't really have discussion threads where people keep posting. That leads to another problem: 'What do the users want to post about?'. It's possible to open a thread for discussing every single anime, but that's no use.

Like Nemses said, a shout or chatbox would be a nice idea. It will keep users longer on the forums than 5 minutes, which leads to more activity.

From now on I will try to post more (p)reviews of animes and (anime related)games, like Proto writes reviews about movies.

seconded. i'll try to write some reviews as well. haven't tried that since my tales of the abyss thread failed miserably =P
and i really like the idea of a shoutbox, something for Dragonlady to think about =)

I'm just the forum admin. I have no access to ftp, so therefore Edmunds (who is the webmaster) is the only one who can add things like smilies, new skins, shoutboxes, etc. because those types of things have to be put into the forums ftp folder before you can go to the admin cp and install them.

I can however add forums, subforums, titles, ban, etc. (things that can be done without ftp access).

But you know... even though you think your review threads may be failing because the lack of posts, doesn't mean that's true. Look at how many hits (views) it gets. It gets the word out there about something new for people to check out.

That seems a bit too much, don't you think? I understand that we will discuss only the popular ones but then again, everyone would want to talk about THEIR favorite anime. This anime might be one that ONLY that person has seen, I agree that thread will go down under but that would only add up to the 'junk threads that no one reads' thereby chunking up server memory.

However, I wont oppose the idea of having threads for popular animes.
The question is, how to decide popularity of an anime? How about a poll?
Secondly, timeline of an anime is an important factor as well. For instance, there were many popular animes that have ended, will we have threads for those as well?
