They're not scary.Its just that some people fear what can't be explained.It's only some ghost's that can hurt or scare you deliberatly.Others are just as scared as you are.Like in that show Ghost Whisperer.

There's no reason to think ghosts are scary.
Humans fear whatever they can't control, or anything they don't have any knowledge about.

this is all influence by mass media, this is all our imagination. besides, they are consider a total stranger to us and we dont know much about. this is same for sum1 who are scare to try new thing. therefore we are scare to accept new thing.

Like dave said, it's a mass media thing. Movies often portray ghosts as vengeful spirits with the ability to directly or indirectly hurt us. It gets a lot of people scared because you can't prove or disprove the existence of something like that and it's difficult for people to not be afraid of something that could hurt them without them knowing. I personally think it's utter nonsense.

well, i don't really believe in ghosts, as in transparent people that jump out of the corners and yell "BOO!!!!!" at us and try top freak us out. i, however, do believe in spirits, and i do believe that they can influence the living among them in many ways. what media makes out of all this is just for the sake of making movies and writing ghost stories.

I think ghosts are scary because they remind people of death. They also remind people or the torment the souls must be going through at the moment. To have no resting place, trapped in this damn world when really they should be moving on into some after live. Most storys say ghosts are people that cant move on in the after life because they have "unfinished buissness" which is backing up my claim on people concidering them as trapped.

I think I had influenced by the ghost movie........that is why I'm scared of ghost. I had watch many ghost movie and it is so scary.....
