a new ps3 rpg that had been out in japan for a while, and will arrive in NA and US on october 7, that's pretty soon.
it is not a typical japanese rpg, in fact, if i didn't tell u it was japanese, u would never have guessed. it looks and plays like a western rpg, similar to oblivion, gothic and such.
the story is that some power hungry king has unleashed the old one, a fearsome demon with bad intentions for the kingdom of boletaria. and guess what happens next? u're the hero who has to brave all the difficulties and slay the old one, duh.
what really stands out about the game are two things, the brutal unforgiving difficulty, and it's online content.
this is said to be the hardest game in recent memory. there's nothing more to say on the subject. if u're not careful, u will find urself having to start from the beginning of the stage, over and over and over again... YOU WILL DIE, and that's a fact. death is actually an interesting thing in this game, and that ties into the online portion.
in demon's souls, the online portion is mixed in with the single player one, to join another player's game, u have to die and join them as a spirit. u will then be able to do quests together and whatever else u feel like doing. u can invade the other player's game and kill them, which will earn u bad karma. apparently karma affects everything around u, but i have no info on that yet. when u play the game u will see ghosts of people who are playing the game at that exact time, and u will also be able to see replays of deaths of unfortunate adventurers (marked by blood stains), and try to avoid their fate.
all in all, i have just preordered this game, and looking forward to it almost as much as i am to assassin's creed 2. this concludes my very condensed review of demon's souls. buy it, and add me to ur psn: VoxMortem. NAO.
