Psh. Ninja's suck! The fact that none actually existed, and myths about them are blown way out of proportion in today's definition really downs my enthusiasm about them

Well, Ninjas did existed but only in the shadows. Naruto makes ninjas seem totally unreal. Real Ninjas didn't have chakras or anything but they were a clever group who used guerrilla warfare tactics in order to take out their foes. Ninjas were originally created to take out the Samurai warriors. The problem was that Samurai were too strong to be confronted head on, so the hidden creed of Ninjas were created who could abuse the weakness of a Samurai and use it against him.

<<< don't know much about pirates except for the fact that the 'walk the plank' thing was a creation of Hollywood and pirates didn't really do those kinda things.

Simplified - Animes have hyped up Ninjas and Hollywood have hyped up the Pirates.

Actually, there are no actual records or much real proof that the shinobi actually existed. It would be fair to ascertain that if a samurai, the most respected people in the land, was assassinated, that there would be records of it.

Also, the only reason many like ninja's is all that naruto crap. Granted, I'm probably infatuated with pirates due to my loving of Pirates of the Caribbean. But still, if in an actual reality fight. There is no way a ninja could take on a pirate....and...oh god. I finally did it. I succumbed to the NinjaVPirate arguement. :O

Very true but its kinda hard to decide who would win if they fight. Both were pretty strong and sneaky.

hmm... i think if a pirate was unaware of a coming attack, a ninja could take him out. but if it's a head to head battle, my money is on the pirate.
