Japanese anime and manga are awesome. Since going to University I've developed a passion for Japanese culture. I was introduced to various films such as Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Howls Moving Castle etc. and since then I've been hooked. I like that there are so many different genres of Anime around, from horror to sci-fi. I think Japanese is a beautiful language and I actually prefer watching films in a foreign language with subtitles. I'm watching Bleach and Ouran High School at the mo. I think that manga tends to be better than their anime counterparts as you et a more in-depth story line. As for American Comics...they're ok, I don't mind DC comics but tbh I'm sick of patriotic-epic-superherosavestheworldandgodlovesamerica type comic books.

American comics have a tendency to run on and not really end. I love them for their overlapping story arcs, but when they change writers and artists it can become something else entirely and not the thing I fell in love reading.

So basically I like Japanese comics because they are usually controlled more by the creator rather than a company that will change things for demographics and money making schemes. And you don't always get writers who have some ulterior motive (such as Mark Millar who I feel is basically just trying to shift it all towards movie making by sabotaging everything else and forcing Marvel to put more money into movies alone.)

Plus there is the simple idea that Japanese comics simply cover different stories and have a whole new set of cliches and rules and expectations that I am not as exposed to since I grew up in America. Even if it's not that good, if I'm not as exposed to an idea it seems more refreshing.

ahhh, I just like japanese culture better than american culture (I live in America, BTW)

Anyway, Animes/Mangas are much more serious than american comics. They have more main characters dying, which helps alliviate the predictability of american comics. (where the hero ALWAYS wins)

Also, Japanese comics have more genres than american comics, which are generally comedic or action packed.

Japanese humor > American Humor, in my opinion.

different way was used by Japanese mangaka to build emotional relationship between the author and the readers......
that's make Japanese manga beingl more real and down to earth; most of them take our ordinary living as a background
therefore we can feel them and make our imagination easier to reach them

furthermore, the humour was really2 funny and hard to be forget
finally, i just can say that japanese manga is the best!

hmm .. guess I don't know the difference. However, I have seen Hollywood's depiction of American Humor .. guys getting kicked/punched/hit in the genitals .. and gas .. lots and lots of gas. Attic gas, basement gas .. doesn't matter as long as it's gas! The 14 year old boys love it apparently (no offense to 14yr old boys .. I used to be one!)
